About katyquilts

I am a wife, mom of four amazing adult kids, and a former librarian. I love making everything from traditional quilts to art quilts. I am thankful to God my Father and Creator for the gift of creativity!

I HATE pantos — that’s why I decided to get good (or at least as good as a panto) with free-hand quilting from the front of the machine!

Today is my first day following this blog and already I’ve learned a lot and gotten a great chuckle or two. I KNOW what you mean about stopping at blue tape ! Bwwwaaahhhhhhha ! ! ! I had to devise a new method. Our local weekly paper sells “end of roll” newsprint. It is usually about a dollar an inch… Let me tell you that an inch of newsprint is a LOT. Last roll I bought was about 4″ thick and I’ve been using this one for about 5 years ! ! ! I’ll cut off about 4 inches wide and use the blue tape to attach it about 5″ before I have to stop quilting out the panto. . Then I DRAW out the design, or an ending to the design and HAVE to stop because there won’t be any more design to follow…. Solved my problem. Thanks for this great blog. I’m loving it.
