Mr. Wonderful

I’m really not sure where to begin with this post. I’m feeling very sentimental today.

This is Mr. Wonderful. He has been my best friend for nearly forty years and my husband for over 37 years. Together we have raised a family of four wonderful children, and welcomed five beautiful grandsons.

Today is his last day of work.

He is retiring after a long career in the automotive industry. His career has taken him all over the world. It even moved our family to France for a few years. He has patents to his name. He has received awards and recognition.

But his greatest accomplishments, will be the many lives he has touched, the people he has mentored. The notes written to him, the retirement party, the kind words spoken to me about him, all testify to the great love he has for people. I am so very proud of him.

It is very gratifying to know that others see in him what I have always known. That he is strong, creative, able. But he is also kind, with the most beautiful heart, always looking to support and bring out the best in other people.

We are not entirely sure what the path ahead looks like, but we plan to keep walking it with Jesus, and He knows the way.

Just for fun, here is a silly photo of us. We bought outfits and dressed up to take this photo for our kids. Is this what retirement looks like? 😂

Thanks for indulging me. I love him. ❤️

Leader/Ender 4 Patches

Remember these?

I had an idea that I might lay them out like a quilt in this book.

Here it is.

I cut a few patches to play with.

None of this is really working for me. Some days are like that.

Have a good one!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finished quilting my Scrappy Stars quilt.

And I’m onto the binding.

I also picked up a small knitting project.

Just a dishcloth, but perfect to work on while watching TV with the mister. You can find the free pattern here.

Did you ever place an online order, only to realize you missed some small thing? Then you don’t order it because no one wants to pay shipping for one little thing! Well, you are in luck! It’s FREE SHIPPING from AccuQuilt this weekend!

Have a great day!

This and That

A few more snippets from my recent trip to the the Valley of the Sun.

I stopped at a garage sale and these were in the FREE box! No idea what they will become, but I had to rescue them.

This puzzle was harder than it looks!

Hubby’s roses are enjoying the AZ heat.

Willy enjoyed a few nights by the fire with me.

And I did get out to do some Jeeping in Sedona with Daughter #2 and dear SIL.

That’s her pink Jeep, Roxy.

Isn’t she beautiful?

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Four Patch Strippy

I started making these four patches as leader/enders before leaving AZ last spring. I made a few more in August when I was there, and finally finished on my most recent trip.

I love the result! Except for that slightly creepy cat face shown below. It was NOT fussy cut! It was a scrap from a repro cheater print.

I quilted freehand feathers in the light strips, but it hardly shows. The backing is a sheet from Magnolia. It was wonderful to work with.

Willy, the quilt inspector, approves.

The photo below has an unfortunate shadow. The four patches finish at four inches and the quilt finished at 60 by 72 inches.

I love a good stripy quilt and a good scrappy quilt, so this ticks all the boxes for me.

Have a great day!

Temp Quilt Update

I finally finished the column for September, and now it’s nearing the end of October !

I’m loving how this looks so far. As a reminder, this shows high and low temps for Phoenix for this year. Each column represents one month.

Only three more to go. Crazy!

Have a great day!

Scrappy Stars

I haven’t forgotten these! I just couldn’t decide on a fabric for the alternate blocks.

I brought a trio of possibilities back from AZ.

There is one I’m leaning toward, but we shall see.

Have a great day!

Four Patches Again!

Yes, I think this will work!

Looks like it will finish at 60 by 72 inches. I’m really looking forward to quilting this one.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know that this fantastic AccuQuilt deal has been extended until midnight tonight!

Time to look at my wishlist!

Have a great day!
