Something Scrappy

I was in the mood to use some Repro 30s fabrics. That always seems to happen in the spring!

So I chopped them up into rectangles. They will finish at 1 1/2ā€ by 3.ā€ I cut up an equal number of yellow rectangles.

Now I’m sewing them into pairs.

Have a great day!

A Tiny Finish

When I was testing out my walking feet, I decided to make a little something. And here it is!

The squares finish at 1 1/2ā€. They were easily grabbed from my bins of 2 inch squares so it took no time at all to piece this little top.

I quilted it on my Babylock QPC. Here is the back.

Since I sold Friday, I won’t have a long arm to use this summer. That is the reason I’m focused on finding a good machine quilting set up.

Have a great day!

This and That

I want to start this post by saying thank you for all of your suggestions regarding my new/old quilt! So many great ideas. The work on it will wait until fall as there is no time to work on it before we get back to Michigan.

I haven’t done as many puzzles this winter, but I just finished this one. I love White Mountain Puzzles!

My handsome grand dog, Milo.

Aren’t these gorgeous?na gift from Daughter #2.

The herd waiting for their Easter Egg Hunt to start.

Sweet grand dog, Bambi.

I don’t buy many quilting books anymore, but this has been on my wishlist.

One last thing, I’ve been asked about a pattern for this quilt:

I didn’t use a pattern and I have not yet created one. Sorry!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Kaffe Hexies

Finally! I can’t even remember when I started this. I’m glad it is done.

It finished at 80 by 90 inches. I should have added borders to make it queen size, but I was just sick of it.

The quilting is pretty loose.

I bound it by machine and used a gray sheet I had on hand for the backing.

These definitely helped the binding process.

It really doesn’t fit this bed, but I put it on anyway for the photo.

Have a great day!

A New Old Quilt

I recently acquired this old quilt.

It appears to have one original border. The others have been replaced, perhaps due to wear.

It really is quite lovely. I’m trying to decide if I will leave the repairs or cut it down and bind it.

What would you do?

Have a great day!

More quilts from the show. But first, and answer to a question from yesterday. My log cabin strips are cut 1 1/2 inches wide.

Enjoy!

Log Cabin Kit

I’ve been wanting to make a Log Cabin quilt for a while. I decided this would be one of the projects I kitted up to take to Michigan.

Of course, I’m using my AccuQuilt Die.

I’m not making full 12 inch blocks, though. So I only cut using shapes 1-8 on the die board. I broke out some long hoarded layer cakes for this!

But I wanted a way to store them so they wouldn’t get messed up in transit. I got a couple of these from my local Walmart for less than $6 each. The blue vertical dividers can be arranged any way you wish.

I’ve got some empty spaces, but things should stay relatively neat. I have one box for lights and one for darks.

BTW, I found these in the Fishing section. I guess they are considered tackle boxes.

Have a great day!

Tiny 9 Patch Challenge

I’m up to 55 tiny 9 patches. That is way behind most people, but I’m okay with that.

I did cut a bunch more pieces. I have no idea how many blocks I can get from this.

I decided to cut my background pieces. Again, I have no idea if I have too little or too many.

I noticed that some people are piecing them together, starting at opposite corners and working to the middle. Seemed like a good idea, so I’m doing the same.

This got me excited to move forward! The blocks finish at 1 1/2ā€. I’ll just keep going until I run out of pieces.

Have a great day!

This and That

The mister and I recently attended an air show at Luke Air Force Base near us.

Daughter #2 was based there for six years. She and SIL came with us. He was a frequent passenger on helicopters like this while he served in the Army.

F-35s like this one fly over our house daily.

We love to hear the sound of freedom!

Mr. Wonderful has the most beautiful roses!

I haven’t ridden Glory much this winter. But I love it when I do! Misters bike is back in Michigan and I feel guilty riding without him.

It’s amazing what you can fit in a Mini Cooper!

We fell in love with this table at Goodwill. We made it home!

Have a great day!
