This is my primary piecing machine in Arizona. It looks nearly identical to my Juki TL98 in Michigan.

I bought it used and it didn’t come with a walking foot, so I brought the one that came with my Juki as well as the Janome foot that I bought for it out to AZ to try them on this Babylock. Here is the Janome foot.

And the stitches.

Here is the Juki foot.

The stitches are on the right.I’m happy with both of these! So much better than the Juki, which I don’t understand.

This is my Bernina with its walking foot.

You can see the stitches on the far right. It’s quieter than the Babylock. Stitches are just as nice.

Here they are on the back.

I hate using the Juki foot on my Juki! The Janome foot is better, but not perfect. The Juki and Babylock look nearly identical. So why do the walking feet work so much better on the Babylock?

Such a mystery! If anyone has advice, I’d love to hear it.

You mat remember this painted quilt top tha5 I picked up a few years ago.

It was dirty and had some stains and color runs. While I generally don’t recommend washing before quilting, I didn’t want to quilt it and find out it was a disaster. So this is what the water looked like after a few minutes. Yuck!

This was after four washes.

In all, it got washed and rinsed eight times! And still….

It is hard to tell here, but the green is much lighter as are the painted blocks. The background of those blocks is now a pale green instead of cream.

So, what will I do now? I have no idea. It is pretty. The stains have improved. It is very soft looking. Should I machine quilt it? I’m going to have to think on this one.

I think of this quilt as the Easter quilt. I also think of this as Grandma’s magnum opus quilt. She did her finest work here and was justifiably proud of this quilt. The work here is exceptionally fine. This piece is large, measuring approx 72″ x 90″, making it difficult to get a good picture. I took this one from the second story of the kids clubhouse looking down!

It ended up in my husband’s hands due to the fact that purple has always been his favorite color. Here are closeups of the individual blocks. Take a journey with me through the life of Jesus as told by the blocks of this beautiful old quilt:

Thank you for coming to a lost a broken and broken world  to live with us. Thank you for dying on the cross and rising again that one day, we might live with you in heaven.  Amen.

You all know how much I love thrifting! I found a bag of blocks last week and had to buy it just to see what was inside.

Such an interesting block.

I also got about three yards of this batik.

I’m not sure what they will become yet. I know I’ll use them somewhere.

I needed another small piece to use up the batting and backing in the frame. I found some already pieced HSTs in a bin.

Oh, yes! I think I like this!

That’s better! Still extra batting, but the backing is pretty much used up. 🙃

I was able to attend this show over the weekend. It was very nice. It was quite crowded , so my photos aren’t the best. But I still saw many quilts worth sharing. Info for each quilt follows.

I had extra batting and backing at the end of a quilt I’d quilted. So I decided to make a little something to use it up. I grabbed this charm pack that I’ve had for ages.

And started cutting. The largest squares will finish at four inches.

Time to sew some tiny hourglass blocks.
