Finally, Something New

I finished the “must do” projects and was casting about for something fun. I turned to my saved ideas on Pinterest and decided it was time to create my own version of this.

I could find no attribution, but it appears to be quite old. I grabbed these AccuQuilt dies and went to work.

These are all from my 10” AccuQuilt Qube.

I love the soft look of the original. I might need to cut some more lighter squares.

Adding the side triangles really adds some life.

Time to sew! Have a great day!

Nope, nope, nope….

I made this quilt a couple years ago. I used a layer cake.

All the leftovers were cut into tumblers. I also found some gray tumblers and thought they might work together to make a baby quilt.

Yeah, not so much. I hate this. Back into the box they go.

That’s okay. Someday they will become something.

Have a good one!

This and That

Did you know that if you place a toilet paper roll up to the camera on your phone, that you can take a photo of your dog that makes them look like the moon? Now you know!

Can’t beat flowers in February!

Willy’s favorite lounging spot. Weird dog.

Remember last summer when Cactus Jack died? Well, meet Baby Jack, named by E3. He’s tiny, but cute. ☺️

I’d say this describes me pretty well these days!

Have a good one!

Finish It Up Friday ~ 9 Patch

And it’s done! It feels like my first finish in ages.

I had alignment difficulties with my fan quilting, but I still like it.

I think this binding fabric is an older one from Connecting Threads.

I love this backing fabric. Lord only knows where that came from.

It finished at about 58 inches square. The blocks finish at three inches.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

In the packing and unpacking, I’ve found many of my very early quilts. This is one of them.

It has very early reproduction prints from Fons and Porter.

I hand quilted it and it was my favorite quilt for a long time.

I added that bit of appliqué in the middle because it looked empty to me. That might have been the first time I did any hand appliqué.

Have a great day!

Sewing Room Update

I’m sure you saw this coming…. I had to do some serious rearranging. The mister helped me stack these basket units. That created more floor space, but I had to move them to a different wall so they wouldn’t be in front of the windows.

That meant the dies got moved, so then the cutters needed to be moved.

Two islands worked well in my sewing room in Michigan, so I thought I’d try that here. I think I like it, but the cabinet the Bernina was in had to go.

I’m sure you’ve noticed all the boxes under the tables…..someday I’ll get to those. But I won’t be shopping for fabric any time soon.

I cannot work in a messy space. This is still a lot messier than I like, but I think I can sew a bit now.

Looks like I need to work on those carts next to the long arm.

Have a great day!

Temperature Quilt

I finally got around to piecing the strip for December.

And I have a plan for the layout.

Now I need to cut the background bits and get this thing together!

Have a great day!

WAIT! Hold the presses! After I wrote and scheduled this post, I had a conversation with my friend, Kelly. She had the brilliant idea to add the temp scale and a few other things to the top. So I’m rethinking all of this. Stay tuned.

Signature Circle

I ordered this newer AccuQuilt die and received it last week.

I don’t have a plan for it yet, but had to try it out. I’ve always found curves to be scary. This is what the die looks like.

Perfectly cut pieces!

Not so perfectly sewn, but I think with a bit of practice, I’ll get there.

Here is a look at the back.

Have you tried anything new lately?

Before I go, I wanted to let you know about this deal from AccuQuilt .

This is a great chance to stock up on mats and things.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

The plan for today is to finish the hand stitching on this binding.

I was thrilled to find this binding ready to go in my stash. There may have been better choices, but it’s hard to beat using something already made.

Have a great day!

This and That

Another week has flown by! I’m happy to say the box pile has been somewhat reduced. My sewing room is much more crowded than I like though.

I picked this book up at Goodwill and I have been really enjoying it.

I finished a great puzzle this week. Sadly, it was missing a couple pieces.

I saw this and it really made me think.

Happy Mail!

Have a great weekend!
