Happy Thanksgiving

I’m so thankful for all of my dear readers. Your friendship, kindness, encouragement, suggestions, and comments mean the world to me.

I especially appreciate all your sweet comments about my precious Willy. I feel badly about not responding to each one. I’ve read them all several times and each time, I fall apart.

I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with good things.

Thanksgiving PSA

We lost Sweet Willy due to severe pancreatitis along with other complications. After two whole days of treatment, he was worse, not better. It is hard to say what triggered it; most pancreatitis in dogs is caused by eating fatty foods such as table scraps.

This was not the case for Willy.

Mr. Wonderful makes our dog food from fresh, healthy ingredients and they do not get table scraps.

However, in talking with the vet this week, we learned that the day after Thanksgiving is their busiest day of the entire year! Why? People share their Thanksgiving dinner with their pets. Pancreatitis can cause severe pain, nausea, very high glucose levels, and sadly, it can be fatal.

So please, be careful when celebrating with your pets this holiday.

Tree of Life

This has languished long enough. It’s time I get it finished.

I love how these blocks turned out. I just haven’t figured out how to quilt it.

I’m leaning toward using one of these three pattern board designs.

Feel free to weigh in. Have a great day.

Finish It Up Friday ~ Summit Stitches

This post was originally scheduled for last Friday.

My little quilt is done!

I quilted it with small Baptist Fans.

I found this very old Virginia Robert’s print in my stash when I was sorting and folding. It makes a great binding.

Here is a peek at the backing.

I actually made my little quilt bigger than Lori’s because I had so many four patches made up. So the center of mine is more like the antique inspiration quilt. But I did my borders differently. I’ve seen this treatment on a lot of vintage quilts and thought it worked pretty well.

Here is the original inspiration quilt for comparison.

So thankful that Lori generously does these QALs each year.

And here it is hanging in place. BTW, mine finished at 34 inches square.

Please visit Humble Quilts to view the links party.

Have a great day.

More About My Willy Boy

Thank you all for your kind words about my Willy. I appreciate it all so very much.

He is all I can think about right now, so this weekend, I’m just sharing photos of my little fluffy butt.

This was the day we brought him home.

This was supposed to be a lion costume. But he ended up looking like Donald Trump.

Humble Quilt Alongs

Tomorrow I will share my finish for the most recent Quilt Along hosted by Lori at Humble Quilts. I decided it would be fun to share with you all of the little quilts I’ve made in her QALs over the years. I was shocked to realize how many I have! Each one was a total delight to make. Enjoy!

You can see that I took liberties and made them my own. That’s the fun of quilting!

Have a great day!

Wednesday

I’ve had better weeks. Poor Willy has a severe case of pancreatitis. That has meant little sleep and lots of time at the vet.

Meanwhile, these two hooligans waited on the new rugs for him to come home.

Hopefully, I will have good news to share soon.

Quiltville Mystery!

I’m in! I’ve always wanted to do this and I’m finally ready to commit! Click here for Bonnie’s intro post.

I’m not a purple girl, so I’m thinking I will go with reds, dark blue, light blue and neutrals.

I need to thin out my batiks, but I’m not sure I have enough. I’ll do some more digging today.

Have a great day!
