Progress

Sometimes a simple project is just what you need. I’m sewing this top in rows rather than blocks. Every seam is pressed toward the print.

This way everything nests.

Have a great day!

Preparations

I’m hoping to finally finish hand quilting my 9 patch on the way back to Michigan. I decided to get the binding made and ready to go. To keep it neat, I rolled it up on a can of starch.

Then I slid the can out. Easy peasy and ready to pack!

I think I’m done kitting things up to take…..but you never know.

Honestly, packing makes me cranky.

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

These two are soaking up the sun before we go.

Have a great day!

Machines for Sale

Update: Both machines are now sold.

We are getting back to the work of downsizing. I have decided to part with my beloved Juki TL-2000Qi. This is a workhorse piecing machine and it is fast.

It comes with everything you see below, as well as a dozen bobbins. The knee lifter is for the presser foot. The walking foot is not included. It is in Arizona. 🙄

If you come pick it up, you can take this desk for free. I’ve used this for a Bernina 1030, Singer 201, Singer 301, Featherweight, and this Juki.

I’m also selling my lightly used White Superlock 2000ATS Serger.

I’m asking $500 for the Juki and $175 for the serger. Pickup is in Saginaw, Michigan. Please email me at sew4given@aol.com if you are interested or have questions. I’m still struggling with responding to comments.

Thanks for taking a look! Have a great day!

Something Scrappy

I was in the mood to use some Repro 30s fabrics. That always seems to happen in the spring!

So I chopped them up into rectangles. They will finish at 1 1/2” by 3.” I cut up an equal number of yellow rectangles.

Now I’m sewing them into pairs.

Have a great day!

A Tiny Finish

When I was testing out my walking feet, I decided to make a little something. And here it is!

The squares finish at 1 1/2”. They were easily grabbed from my bins of 2 inch squares so it took no time at all to piece this little top.

I quilted it on my Babylock QPC. Here is the back.

Since I sold Friday, I won’t have a long arm to use this summer. That is the reason I’m focused on finding a good machine quilting set up.

Have a great day!

This and That

I want to start this post by saying thank you for all of your suggestions regarding my new/old quilt! So many great ideas. The work on it will wait until fall as there is no time to work on it before we get back to Michigan.

I haven’t done as many puzzles this winter, but I just finished this one. I love White Mountain Puzzles!

My handsome grand dog, Milo.

Aren’t these gorgeous?na gift from Daughter #2.

The herd waiting for their Easter Egg Hunt to start.

Sweet grand dog, Bambi.

I don’t buy many quilting books anymore, but this has been on my wishlist.

One last thing, I’ve been asked about a pattern for this quilt:

I didn’t use a pattern and I have not yet created one. Sorry!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Kaffe Hexies

Finally! I can’t even remember when I started this. I’m glad it is done.

It finished at 80 by 90 inches. I should have added borders to make it queen size, but I was just sick of it.

The quilting is pretty loose.

I bound it by machine and used a gray sheet I had on hand for the backing.

These definitely helped the binding process.

It really doesn’t fit this bed, but I put it on anyway for the photo.

Have a great day!

A New Old Quilt

I recently acquired this old quilt.

It appears to have one original border. The others have been replaced, perhaps due to wear.

It really is quite lovely. I’m trying to decide if I will leave the repairs or cut it down and bind it.

What would you do?

Have a great day!

More quilts from the show. But first, and answer to a question from yesterday. My log cabin strips are cut 1 1/2 inches wide.

Enjoy!
