Woven Hearts 2

I thought I’d share a bit more about the Woven Hearts Sew Along I’m working on for Fat Quarter Shop . We are using these foundation patterns. They come in a pad with 42 sheets in each pad.

Here is a look at one of the sheets in the pad.

The quilt I’m working on needs 70 blocks. That’s a bunch. I’m going to try to make one here and there so I don’t overdo it with my wrists and hands. This is an extremely accurate method of making these blocks, but the rotary cutting to trim can be painful if I’m not careful.

Have a great day!

T-Shirts

I’m a t-shirt person, always have been. I acquired quite a few while Daughter #2 was serving in the Air Force.

I decided that someday, I will make myself a t-shirt quilt. And I decided to rough cut the pieces I want so I don’t have as big of a pile to carry back to AZ.

Here are some of my favorites.

And that pile takes up much less room!

This and That

The mister’s flowers have been so beautiful this summer!

In an age where blaming others seems to be a national sport, I thought this was a good reminder.

My pretty girl. ❤️

Oscar had surgery last week.

Mr. Wonderful did the necessary modifications so we can flat tow him behind our RV, Dora.

Have a great day!

Finished!

Here is a photo from moving day (week?).

We closed on Wednesday. It is time for another family to enjoy this beautiful home.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be napping. 😴

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Dutch Hexies

It’s hard to believe I finally finished this! I hope you enjoy this look back. Have a great day!

After 20 years, this UFO is DONE! It seems quite fitting that this is my last finish for the decade!

You may remember that it looked totally different at the beginning of the year.

I was never happy with it, and I finally decided to take it apart and try again. Now it is finally done. It is handpieced, except for the borders, and machine quilted.

I purchased these fabrics in Amsterdam in 1999. I started piecing the flowers soon after.

I’m still not 100% happy, but I think my fear of ruining these special fabrics kept me paralyzed. Now I can enjoy them on a wall instead of in a box.

I’m not happy with my machine quilting in the hexies, but I love the border.

Finished is definitely better than perfect. Have a great day!

More 9 Patches

I haven’t forgotten these 9 patches. These will finish at 4 1/2 inches.

I spent some time sorting my bin of squares into little piles of five darks and four lights. That makes it easy to zip these through the machine without having to think too hard.

Here is the most recent dozen. I will have enough pieces for a total of 84 blocks. I have no idea what they will become.

Have a great day!

Progress

I set aside a bit of time and made some progress on this little quilt. I love it so far!

And one big plant decision has been made. This beauty now has a new home. The adoptive plant mom is over the moon.

And I am left with these cuttings so I can propagate a few more. They are much easier to transport than this beauty would have been.

I know it’s silly, but I was quite sad to part with this. It helps that the lady that got it was so very thrilled. She promised to send me photos. And I’ll still get to take a bit of it with me.

Several of you mentioned bringing them all with us, but we simply won’t have room in Dora, the RV.

Have a great day!

Vintage Diamonds Progress

I’ve gotten a wee bit of sewing in. I’m so glad I kitted this up way back when.

I’ve decided to set them like this.

These vintage prints are so fun!

Have a great day!

Plants

I bet you never thought I’d do a post on plants! But, here you go. 😄

Daughter #3 bought this beautiful Prickly Pear for me a year or two ago. Now, it is nearly as tall as I am!

Daughter #1 got me this lovely cactus. From the skinny part up is all new growth from just this summer.

And this crazy thing we brought back from AZ two years ago because it was getting blossoms and we didn’t want to miss the flowers. It only had the single column then. Now it has pups all over it.

These are the mister’s dragon fruit plants.

And his plumeria.

I also have this little Hoya.

The question is, how in the heck do we get them back to AZ? 😳

These are tough decisions we will have to make this week. Ugh. What would you do?

Have a great day!

This and That

My hydrangeas are getting so pretty! Just in time for the new owners. I love that. 😊

This is exactly how I felt after our massive garage sale. 😂

There is so much truth to this…

We brought Dora back to the house to get her packed up. Winslow is ready to go!

I saw this recently and whether your children are toddlers or adults, it is so very true.

Have a great day!
