Every year, I like to review my finishes from the year just past. Here are the baby quilts I finished this year.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I didn’t get as much stitching in as I hoped this week. That’s okay.

I basted this quilt pretty heavily on the long arm so I wouldn’t need to use a hoop for hand quilting.

It’s a bit awkward with large fans like this because you need a huge hoop.

My fan stencil is from Fun with Barb. It is my absolute favorite for hand quilting!

I’m loving the varigated thread.

Have a great day!

The Sweetest Gift!

Just look at this bag!

My sweet Mother in Love has made beautiful bags for many years. This one she made just for me. Isn’t it fantastic?

So many pockets, inside and out.

She does an amazing job on these. Check out the inside pockets and lining. If you see someone carrying this one of a kind bag at any quilt shows this year, it will be me! Stop me to say hello. 😊

But the bag is NOT the sweetest gift. This lady is!

I’ve been so blessed to have the best mother in love on the planet. She has been a gift to me from God and I couldn’t be more thankful to have known, loved, and learned from her all these years.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Hexies

This was a fun, quick finish! Sometimes, you need that.

I think the quilting was just right for this.

This is the pantograph that I used.

I found the backing in my stash.

I picked this fabric up at a yard sale a few years ago. I thought it was cute, though not really my style. I knew someday I’d find the perfect use for it!

I had plenty leftover so I used it for the binding too. The finished quilt measures about 46 by 48 inches.

Have a great day!

Half Hexies Part 2

I promised tips for putting this quilt together and here they are!

I didn’t want to quilt this with the zig zag ends and I didn’t want to just cut the points off. So I removed the top row of half hexies and cut them in half.

I added half to the top and half to the bottom and now I have straight edges without any waste!

This quilt is sewn in columns rather than rows.

Every other column has the seams sewn in opposite directions.

This way all seams nest when they are sewn together. It makes construction a breeze.

Hope this helps if you make one. Have a great day!

December Wrap-Up

It feels like I haven’t had much time in the sewing room this month, but I did finish a few things.

Half Hexies

I cut these pieces last summer out of a layer cake I had laying around.

I used this die from AccuQuilt .

I decided it was time to put this together. Looks like I need to cut a few more pieces first.

Stay tuned. I’ll be sharing some great tips for a quilt like this soon.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finally got this vintage top basted. I love basting quilts on the long arm.

This is what I plan to use for the quilting.

Maybe it will be done in time for Valentine’s Day?

Have a great day!

Exploring

Mister Wonderful and I have been exploring our new state. We did a bit of off-roading and found this.

I’m fascinated by the history here.

The headstone above was the biggest one there, for a child under three.

Most were outlined in rocks and their names are known only to God now.

Such a difficult life they must have led.

Have a great day!
