More 9 Patches

Since I didn’t use all my 9 patches in this quilt, I decided to find a way to use the rest.

I had this blue on my cutting table and thought that would go.

Hmmmm….. might work.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Finally, I’m starting to hand quilt this vintage top.

I’m using this stencil from Barb from Fun with Barb. . I’m going to stitch this with the perle cotton you see here.

I’d like to do traditional close hand quilting, but my hands just can’t take it anymore.

Even with this, I’m going to need to pace myself.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Toddler Quilt

Like my creative name? 😂

This was a really quick finish using dies from my AccuQuilt 16” Qube.

It finished at 48 by 56 inches.

This is the pantograph I used.

I love it when I find a perfect binding fabric in my stash!

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Madder 2

It’s hard to believe that five years ago we were in the thick of the COVID mess. I sure don’t miss that. I hope you enjoy this look back at what I was working on then. I might have to make another little quilt like this! Enjoy!

Finish It Up Saturday ~ Madder 2

I’m quite pleased with this little finish! It is a fraternal twin to the doll quilt I made for the Humble Quilts Doll Swap last month.

I used the same backing fabric too.

The crosshatch quilting seemed just the ticket.

This is how it looked after washing.

Jimmy seems to like it.

Have a great day

Something New Part 2

Many people think there is a lot of fabric waste when using AccuQuilt dies. So I thought I’d share a bit about that with my current project. These are the dies I’m using from the 16” Qube.

I’m using a layer cake in this case and my blocks will finish at 8 inches. After cutting the main piece of the block, I end up with this.

I trim the reminder like this. The only bits that get thrown out are the slivers at the top left and bottom right corners.

I have all my main pieces and a pile of large triangles leftover for a second project. Because they are all close to the same size and shape, I’ll store them together. I should have enough for 84 4 inch finished HSTs. That’s perfect for a baby quilt once I cut some background triangles to go with.

I chose a darker teal color for the triangles needed for these blocks.

Easy peasy!

These go together in a snap and the dark triangles make for a strong design.

Have a great day!

The List

I’ve been setting aside projects for the summer for sometime now. We will soon be heading out to spend the summer in Dora, our RV.

Here is my list of projects (so far):

  1. Vintage 30s solids and prints. No plan exactly yet, maybe 4 or 9 patches?

2. I Spy quilt

3. My Tiny SMT blocks

4. I don’t know what to call this. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It should be a mini of this:

5. 36 Patch

6. Aunt Martha Star. I really just want to finish the diamonds on this.

7. I have an idea for a layer cake quilt. Have you seen the Sparkle Pop pattern by Emily Dennis?

8. Jelly Roll Chain Quilt. Again, I need to decide which to use.

9. Granny Square

10. Tumblers

11. Pandora’s Box

12. Vintage Bricks to hand quilt

13. This pile doesn’t have a set purpose yet. Last summer I got a bit bored with kits, so I decided to bring this small pile of fabrics to figure out later. I am bringing my 8 inch Qube and my regular GO! Cutter.

Everything on this list is subject to change! Lol!

Have a great day!

Little Vintage 9 Patch

Ever the one to over pack, I’m thinking about another hand quilting project for the summer.

I bought this quilt about ten years ago at an antique shop out here. It is small. I think the 9 patches are about 5 inches.

It has been tied and I’m not sure it has any batting. It has been well loved, the piecing is nicely done by hand.

The border fabric is interesting. Is this seersucker? The edges were finished with a blanket stitch.

The backing is flannel.

It was always my intent to take this apart and then hand quilt it. What would you do?

Have a great day!
