Orphan Blocks

When I’m in a bit of a slump, I sometimes go through my orphan block boxes.

I found these blocks, leftover from an AccuQuilt project.

I think these were originally from my dear neighbor and were leftover from a throw quilt made a while back.

And this. The star is hand pieced. It’s a weird 7 inches finished.

I’m putting these up on the design wall to see if they spark some ideas.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Tiny Nines

Finally! This little quilt is only 40” square, but it has taken over a year to finish.

It was started in a quilt along by Taryn , @reproquiltlover on Instagram. It contains 2,838 pieces. Each tiny square finishes at one half inch.

This is the smallest piecing I’ve ever done. And none of it was done with strip piecing. Every square was cut and stitched individually.

It is quilted every half inch.

And this is where it is now hanging in my house.

I love this piece, but I’m sure glad it is done.

Have a great day!

Tree of Life Update

The next four blocks are done.

Should I make one more block, or five more blocks?

Decisions, decisions…..

Have a great day!

Oops!

I needed some 2 inch squares for a quilt I’m planning on working on later this year in the RV. I waned bright/ modern prints, but I could only find Repro fabrics. So I decided to do some scrap busting!

I spent several hours filling up this bin.

And then I found this.

🙄

Time to starting looking for more ideas using two inch squares.

Have a great day!

Flying Geese Again

I pieced my geese!

I also got them all up on the design wall. And then I realized my mistake.

If I piece this together as shown, it will be wider than it is long. This makes my head hurt.

So the blocks have all been taken down and resorted and I will start over tomorrow.

Life is like that.

Have a great day!

Flying Geese

I cut these bits out a while ago.

I sorted them out.

And stitched up my flying geese. These will finish at 3 by 6 inches.

Now it’s time for design wall fun!

Have a great day!

SAS

I visited my favorite fabric store recently. I was looking for backing for the huge Trip Around the World project.

I had to grab these when I saw them there as well.

And I found five yards of this beautiful peachy/orange fabric! It is a bit brighter than the photo shows. It isn’t exactly the same as what I used in this quilt, but close.

I also found this. Isn’t it fun?

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Many Trips Around the World

I started this quilt at least a year ago and now it is officially done!

Here it is on my queen guest bed. You can see it is huge!

There are things I’d do different next time, but overall, I’m quite pleased.

You can see a bit of the quilting here. Very simple.

I had a terrible time trying to get a full photo. It finished at 108 inches square.

Have a great day!
