This and That

Every spring when we head north, this cactus has had buds. We always left before we actually saw flowers! Not this year.

Not to be outdone, a couple of our other cacti bloomed earlier this week as well.

Oh, Willy!

We found a new favorite restaurant. It reminds me of Wisconsin. They had the best cheese curds ever!

We’ve had some weird weather lately.

But rainbows are always good. Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ RWB Bow ties

I’m chuffed to bits about this baby quilt finish!

It turned out even better than I had imagined.

I used the tiny blue check that I used in some of the blocks for the back and binding.

I tried a little experiment to finish the binding with perle cotton. I thought this would be faster than traditional hand finishing. And it was.

It finished at about 36 by 42 inches, a good size for dragging about.

Have a great day!

SMT Update

These blocks are coming along!

I think this pile has 50 blocks.

And I’ve settled on this print for the alternate blocks.

I actually don’t have quite enough, but I’ll use that as an excuse to get creative.

Have a great day!

Bow Tie Progress

I am loving this! Why don’t I use red as a background more often?

Lots of sewing to do!

Have a great day!

It’s here!

Did you see today’s AccuQuilt Live program? If you did, then you know the BIG news is that AccuQuilt has released a new…..

16” Qube!

I got to design a couple patterns for this release. The first is Field of Diamonds, a throw quilt.

And the second is a generous baby quilt called Ring Around the Posy.

Both are free patterns available on the AccuQuilt website. I am thrilled with this die release. I have lots of plans ahead for this, so stay tuned!

Bow Ties and BIG News!

I don’t know what to call this, but it does use the AccuQuilt dies intended for Bow Ties. I decided to add some different blues to the mix.

And I liked it! So I pulled some more and cut them up. I want to make a baby quilt.

Sometimes you have to quit thinking about an idea, and just do it!

And what is the BIG news? Check out the AccuQuilt the Live program at 12 PM Central time. Click here to register! If you register, you will be entered into drawings for prizes.

Then come back here for a special post. 😊

Have a great day!

Something New

These are vintage fabrics from my stash.

I grabbed them to try out an idea I’ve had for a while now. These are the AccuQuilt dies I’m using from my 12” Qube.

I cut these pieces in a single pass!

And these are the 3” finished blocks I’m making.

Everything gets pressed toward the red.

Ta daaa!

Four together look like this.

I’m loving this! I don’t often make a quilt with just two fabrics, but this could work. That funky, wonky print gives a lot of movement. I’m going to have to think about this one.

Have a great day!

Rocks

Yes, I’m still playing with rocks.

I picked up this tile saw so I could cut them up! It’s so fun to see what they look like inside.

Aren’t they gorgeous? Hidden treasures made by the Creator Himself.

Some rocks are beautiful because of their form. These fascinate me.

I really have the itch to get back out there, but it is snake season. 😬

Have a great day!

This and That

Some quilts are made and I have to wait a while to find out where they want to live. I finally know where this one is going.

I was thrilled to pick this up at Goodwill for under $2!

I’ve started setting things aside for RV sewing.

A good reminder.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ HST Mini

This little experiment is done.

It doesn’t look too bad from a distance, but up close, yikes! I was able to do a bit of a meander in the border after I found the darning foot for my 301. I also added the binding after I finally found my walking foot.

The backing I chose hid a multitude of sins. The binding, not so much.

Pictures taken outside really show the texture.

I decided to wash this to complete the experiment. Here are a few photos after washing.

I do think it helps hide the wobbles.

Have a great day!
