Scrappy 36 Patches

This box is chock full of 2 inch squares. I cut the solid squares early last spring in anticipation of making another quilt similar to this quilt.

First block done.

And then there were four!

The first quilt I made like this had 2 1/2 inch cut squares and these are cut 2 inches square. I think I’ll like these smaller blocks.

Have a great day!

More from South Dakota

The stop to see Dignity of Earth and Sky is a must if you are traveling on US 90 across the state.

It is HUGE!

We made the obligatory stop at Wall Drug. The water was good; the food not so much!

The most interesting thing was their library!

It was lovely. Check out the carvings!

Next up was the Badlands National Park. We were greeted at the entrance by this guy.

This was truly amazing and photos do not do it justice!

Have a great day!

July Wrap-Up

Lots of travel with a bit of sewing summarizes this month! Still, I like what I got done. Two tops and a bunch of blocks.

This was a “prepared earlier” project that I shared this month. I knew I’d need some filler blog posts!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Boston Commons

Ta daaa!

My little quilt top finished at about 22 inches square.

It will eventually get a green binding.

If you are wondering how I hung this in the RV, I used this elastic clothesline with integrated clips. I love this thing! Might buy another for the sewing room.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

Since I shared my finished I Spy top last week, I thought I’d share this finish from last year that inspired it. This quilt was pieced from 2 1/2” cut squares. The I spy was made from 3 1/2” finished squares. Enjoy!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Leader/Ender

Posted on March 22, 2024 by katyquilts

I finished my leader/ender quilt.

I used an old favorite pantograph called Any Which Way.

I love the backing fabric. The sharks are so fun! It was supposed to be a sheet.

The binding was leftover from another project.

This last photo shows the truest color.

This quilt will get donated to Project Linus. For some reason, my bin of 2 1/2” squares doesn’t look any emptier than when I started. 🤔

Have a great day!

Quilt Museum Part 3 ~ Toy Sewing Machines

I told you there was a lot to see! This post is all about the toys. 😊

This was such a neat display. The museum is housed in an old school building. As you open each locker, you see a toy and quilt or fabric from the decade written on the outside.

I hope this panoramic photo shows on the blog!

So much fun! Have a great day!

So far, so good! Have a great day!

Boston Commons

After the I Spy quilt, I was ready to work on something smaller. This bin holds vintage 2” cut squares.

My plan is to make a small Boston Commons quilt, at least I think that’s what it’s called. Here is the center block.

And the start of the corners.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I have all the quilting on the outer edge of this quilt done! Time for binding. I made the binding back in AZ and had it ready to go.

I attached it by machine before trimming. When I’m working with vintage tops, I don’t worry much about trying to get things perfectly square.

I ordered a walking foot from The Featherweight Shop and it was worth every penny!

Now, I have even more handwork to do!

Have a great day!

This and That

We borrowed my nephew’s truck while in Kansas. The pups prefer riding in Dora!

This looks like a great place to explore!

Winslow looks like she is laughing. 😂

I resemble this remark!

One of the most comforting and profound truths ever.

Have a great day!
