Quilting the Tumbler Top

I decided against piecing the backing when I found the perfect gray piece to use.

I’m quilting this with my design boards.

Have a great day!

Tumbler Progress

This is moving along! I quite like the randomness of it.

I’ve been thinking about another pieced backing.

Hmmmm…. Stay tuned.

JRC

I pulled out the Jelly Roll Chain blocks that I stitched up last summer.

I think I like the rings formed in the layout shown below. But there are too many yellow blocks and not enough of other colors.

I tried separating some of the yellows out.

I hate to not use all the blocks I’ve made, but it might be necessary. I’m trying to add in some other colors.

Clearly there is more work to be done.

Have a great day!

Spring Nectar

I’ve shared this project on Instagram, but I wanted to share here as well. Back in June, Connecting Threads sent me a lovely package with the Spring Nectar FQ bundle and more Essential Threads.

We were gone so I didn’t get to play until we returned from our trip.

I pulled out this 8” Qube from AccuQuilt and got to work!

This is the result. A generously sized Puss in the Corner quilt!

This fabric has such a lovely hand and the prints are darling.

I was in a hurry to finish this, so I used a plain backing I had on hand.

Now it’s all ready for gifting! Have a great day!

This and That

Oops! Willy thought he was jumping up onto the dinette bench, but he didn’t notice it was open.

Yep! Dora explored Idaho!

One of our many campsites.

This captures my overall takeaway from this trip:

This just made me laugh! Yes, I am bringing some rocks home!

The mister actually found a rock museum for me along the way!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Tiny SMT

My second quilt for the Scrappy Meets Thrift Challenge is done! You can see my first one here.

The blocks in this one finish at two inches.

I love this fabric for binding.

And I finally found a home for this treasured piece on the back.

Ta daaaa! It finished at 38 by 42 inches.

I threw it across the coffee table when I finished, turned my back for five seconds, and Gracie claimed it!

Silly dog! And no, I do not normally allow them on the coffee table! Please excuse her toy mess.

Well, she has good taste anyway. Have a great day!

Nevada and Arizona

We experienced the most beautiful sunset in Nevada!

Wild horses were on the move!

This is Walker Lake. The color was amazing, even though it was obscured by a dust storm.

We spent a night in Goldfield which is mostly a ghost town now.

Next we headed to Hoover Dam!

And finally…..

That should be the end of my travel posts for a while. We had the trip of a lifetime, filled with family and new places. We traveled nearly 10,000 miles.

Thanks for hanging in there this summer!

Tumbler Trouble

I have five rows pieced and I still love this. I had enough tumblers cut to set them 24 by 20.

Then I realized these were in the box. Why did I cut these?

I decided to lay some on top of my pieced rows to see how it would look if I included them.

Here is another look without the yellow.

I’m not loving the yellow bits. So I guess I will be cutting more tumblers today.

Have a great day!

Tumblers

Remember these? I never touched them this summer.

But I’ve finally started piecing them together.

So far, I like it!

Have a great day!

I Spy

I wanted to get the I Spy top that I pieced this summer on the frame. But first, I needed to figure out a backing. I pulled these fabrics and pinned them up on top of the quilt top to determine the size I needed.

This is what I ended up with. Kinda crazy, but then, so is the top!

Now it’s loaded and I just need to decide on a pantograph.

I’m considering these three.

Have a great day!
