Scrappy Star Stitch Along

Taryn at Repro Quilt Lover, has started a casual stitch along. I resisted initially, but eventually succumbed and joined in.

Of course, I’m not quite following the rules. I had a bin of fabrics from my Amelia Brown Rooster Medallion that I had never put away. So I decided to make all my blocks from that bin.

I spent some time cutting pieces to get started. My blocks will finish at 6”.

I am clearly winging it here! I don’t even know how many blocks to make. But it’s fun!

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Make that vvvvveeeerrrrryyyyy slow stitching. The boys head home today and if I have any energy at all, I’ll finish the binding on this little bit.

Perhaps after a nap, I’ll add a few pieces here as well.

Have a great day!

This and That

Headed toward the finish line!

I saw this photo on an advertisement. It has great quilt potential!

Remember these? I found them while cleaning a closet.

This is why I need to get up before anyone else in the house.

The three Es have been here since Wednesday and will be here until tomorrow. I love having them here! But Monday I will have silence with my coffee and it won’t be at 4 AM 🤣

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Starry Night

I think nearly everyone is familiar with Van Gogh’s painting, The Starry Night.

Well, I’ve recently finished my overly simplified, pixelated version.

I freehanded the quilting to add swirls.

I had found this free beading pattern online and used that as my design.

It isn’t my most successful quilt, but it was fun!

Before I go, I had to let you in on this deal from AccuQuilt .

My AccuQuilt studio cutter is still my favorite!

Have a great day!

Will You Be There?

The big AQS show is coming up next week!

I’m so excited! AccuQuilt is sponsoring the lounge area where you can go take a rest, get a drink, and charge your phone. And that is where you can find me! They will also have sewing machines, AccuQuilt die cutters and dies on hand so you can sew a block for charity. I’ll be helping out there, so please stop by and say hello!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a big show and I’m so looking forward to it. I’m very interested to see the Cherrywood Challenge exhibition.

I’ll be there Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I’ll mostly be working in the lounge as I mentioned, but I’ll still get a chance to see the show. I hope to see you there!

Have a great day!

Temp Quilt

I finished the August column for my Temperature quilt last weekend.

Here are the first eight months of the year. I love how this is turning out!

But you do have to keep people from talking to you when sorting your bits…… Let’s just say I had to run through the August colors about six times. Now everything is packed up and put away until September is over.

Have a great day!

Progress

I guess I didn’t have all that many pieces cut. I only ended up with 48 blocks. I need to decide if I want to make this bigger or not. In the mean time, I’ve been playing with layouts.

There are so many possibilities with this block!

Have a great day!

Design Wall Monday

I’m starting something new today. Well, newish. I cut the brown triangles a couple months ago when I was working through scraps, and finally got around to cutting the other pieces.

These are the AccuQuilt Studio dies that I’m using. You could also use Shapes 2 and. 5 from the 8” AccuQuilt Qube.

These are the blocks I’m making.

Of course, I had to put a few up on the wall!

Stay tuned. 😊

Before I go, I wanted to remind you about the AccuQuilt Labor Day sale!

With a code for 25% off, it’s essentially a make your own sale!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Sunday

Done! I can’t wait to get this to my friend.

I attached the binding by machine.

This is the pantograph I used.

I’m glad to have this done. Have a great day!

This and That

While cleaning the sewing room, I found this top. It was made by a friend when I was teaching her to quilt. That was a very long time ago! After finishing the top, she got busy going back to school and I got busy with life. I confess, I’ve lost track of her! But her mom lives in town, so I decided to finish this up and hand it off to her mom.

Our hydrangeas are stunning this year.

We have cameras at our house in AZ. The car parked out front belongs to Daughter #2. I checked our camera and saw this. 😂

The three Es started school this week. They are growing up way too fast!

Have a great weekend!
