It’s cooling down in Arizona. I’ve had trouble with my knee, so I haven’t gotten out hiking like I’d like to. Earlier this week, we finally got out a bit and did a little bit of rock hounding.

The views here are breathtaking.

We hiked up this wash.

I love these rocks that have pockets of crystals.

A big part of finding cool rocks, is training your eye. I’m out of practice. None of those below are “pretty.” I picked them up because I wanted to learn about them.

I do love this tiny agate.

It is no more than an inch wide.
Mr. Wonderful found this one. The white bits in the center are called chalcedony.

This was my best find for the day.

Those bubbly bits are called botroidal formations.
I can’t wait to get back out there again! Have a great day!

i took a geology course in collage and we did a few local field trips…maine has such a rocky coast…mostly granite but other stuff too…quartz…and along the coast are basalt dikes in the rocky formations…cooled lava…fascinating!
