Free Motion Quilting Feathers

This little quilt jumped the queue! I thought I’d show how I mark for quilting feather borders. I’m very much out of practice.

First I mark the corners and center lines of the borders.

These are not quilting lines, but reference lines to mark the spines. Then I use my spine ruler (IDK what the official name is) to draw in the spines.

I use the same ruler when I actually quilt the spines.

After spines are quilted, I free hand the feathers. Don’t look too closely! I am REALLY out of practice.

But at least it is finally getting done. Have a great day!
