My challenge quilt is done! I have so enjoyed this stitch along.

Of course, I had to quilt with Baptist Fans.

I used a plain backing, just because it was handy.

Still working on machine binding. My hands just don’t like hand finishing anymore. I watched this video from Jo’s Country Junction before I started. I’ve done this before with mixed results. Using a smaller seam allowance when stitching th3 binding down on th3 top helped.

I’m not so happy with the back, but I did not have to go back and fix any missed areas.

Overall, I’m really happy with this. My blocks finish at 4 inches. And the completed quilt is 64 by 72 inches.

I still have my Tiny SMT quilt to work on this summer so the fun isn’t over yet!
Have a great day!

Thank you so much, Jan!
Here’s a link to my tutorial with photos. The Colorful Fabriholic: Machine Binding with Glue-Basting https://thecolorfulfabriholic.blogspot.com/2017/04/machine-binding-with-glue-basting.html
I’ve also attached the cheat sheet I hand out when I teach this method. Good luck – Jan
I used design boards with my long arm. I’ll share a post with videos soon.
Thank you! I’m always interested in better methods for machine binding!
Congrats on your finish! Looks terrific, the Baptist Fan quilting is exactly the right motif for it. If you’re interested in machine binding, I have a tutorial I can send you. My method uses glue basting and produces a very clean professional finish. Send me your email address and I’ll send it to you. ochterbeckj at gmail dot com
