Sanilac Petroglyphs

We recently visited this state park here in Michigan.

It is the only place known to have petroglyphs in this state.

They can be found on this turtle shaped rock. It was a sacred meeting place for three separate tribes, the Ojibway, the Fox, and the Sauk.

They were carved into this soft sandstone. Here are a few.

There is a nice hiking trail there as well.

Of course, Winslow had to get into the river.

It was hot, so she lay right down.

Have a great day!

If it was an asphalt trail I could definitely understand Winnie’s hot paws, dirt not so much.
