Plants

I bet you never thought I’d do a post on plants! But, here you go. 😄

Daughter #3 bought this beautiful Prickly Pear for me a year or two ago. Now, it is nearly as tall as I am!

Daughter #1 got me this lovely cactus. From the skinny part up is all new growth from just this summer.

And this crazy thing we brought back from AZ two years ago because it was getting blossoms and we didn’t want to miss the flowers. It only had the single column then. Now it has pups all over it.

These are the mister’s dragon fruit plants.

And his plumeria.

I also have this little Hoya.

The question is, how in the heck do we get them back to AZ? 😳

These are tough decisions we will have to make this week. Ugh. What would you do?

Have a great day!

My son’s family took some young trees down to moist bareroots inside trashbags for their recent move. They were sitting inside empty aquariums inside an enclosed trailer for five days. They left most of the heavy pots behind.

They’ll thrive in Arizona. Just plant in partial shade and water regularly and they should do fine. The hoya inside, please.

Rent a trailer and take them all!

When I moved from NY to NJ 25 years ago, I had a gorgeous Norfolk Island Pine that I had grown from a baby. It was about 3 feet tall but we moved ourselves and we’re packed to the top. I gave it to a dear friend and when we visited her a few years ago the tree was over 10 feet tall and just stunning! I have no plants now, my cats eat every plant I bring in. My only bouquet is on my mantel, and I made it out of Legos!

Last time we moved, I was in the same quandary. While the movers were there, I mentioned the issue and the team leader said they always took along a pickup truck so I could just put them in the back of the truck. And those rocks? Sure, they can ride along. So check with your mover and see if they have options. The smaller ones can ride along if you have room but the bigger ones will probably need new homes. Perhaps, you can break a branch or two off the prickly pear and get a new start. It is hard to leave plants that are doing well.
