Gifted Blocks

A friend gave me this big pile of postage stamp blocks last fall.

She had pieced them over a number of years on different machines and they didn’t all end up the same size.

I’ve been debating how to set them ever since. I have had the following quilt pinned for ages and I suddenly decided I might be able to kill two birds with one stone.

I think this has potential. Although, I’m not satisfied with the setting fabric.

I’ll keep looking. Have a great day!

Such variety in fabrics in those blocks.! A lovely deep blue or red print would really set them off.i could sit and study those fabrics for a long time.

The “poison green” of your inspiration picture would be a good choice for the alternate columns. What a great way to accomodate the various widths of the gifted blocks!

I just saw a strippy quilt where the columns of blocks were framed. Then wider sashing and a border.

I’m thinking the same as weddingdressblue. Maybe a more vibrant color in the between strips. I’m thinking red also. Just a thought. I love the blocks. Hugs,

  5. A bold solid, similar to the inspiration photo, would likely set off the colorful pieced blocks better. Maybe red?
