Slow Stitching Sunday

The mister and I went out for lunch after church last Sunday and then for a nice long bike ride. So I didn’t get far on this. I do now have the Star basted in place.

I learned about back basted appliqué from a tutorial by Jeanna Kimball. I’m not great at it, but this seems to work best for me.

I also added one more row to this project. Someday it will be done.

I’m getting the itch for a big hand quilting project, but I won’t let myself start until this is done.

Have a great day!

Your squares and diamonds quilt could be called tossed chaos! It does a real number on my eyes.

I love the yellow star with the red and green…Jeanna Kimball is a great one to check out a tutorial! Looking forward to seeing the progress as you work on it….it has been a while since I did applique…I even have one of Jeanna Kimball’s books to inspire me!!
Looks like I have no excuses to delay!?
Actually, I have stepped away from quilting for a bit…working on three knitted Christmas stockings, and I have also been working on counted a cross stitch project. Will get back to the quilting, but probably not until winter….isn’t it great to have options?!?

Back basting is really great! Just remember to reverse letters when appliqueing words – the joy does not become yog.

  4. Looking great! This is the first time I’ve heard about the back basting technique.
