I thought today that I would show you how I hang an art quilt to hang in an art show. For a quilt show, you make a standard hanging sleeves and call it a day. This won’t work for an art show. They expect your piece to hang from a single hook.
I start by making two sleeves for each piece. I cut mine 3 1/4” wide. Fold the ends under a quarter inch and hem.

Then fold in half the long way and stitch a quarter inch seam.

Press these seams open. They are on the outside of the sleeve.

I hand stitch the top edge to the back of the quilt as shown.

I have a small scrap of the wood I use for the hanging bar and I use that to figure out how far down to stitch the bottom of the sleeve.

This is what I used for my hanging loop. It was what I had on hand. I cut a piece, bend it in half, and twisted it.

Then I bent it like this.

And taped it to the wood hanger.

Then slide it in place. Now the quilt can be hung from a single hook.

Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing this neat but simple solution 🙂
Tank you for this very informative and useful post.
