Recycled Shirt

I picked up this tank top very inexpensively. But I don’t wear tank tops, even a cool one like this.

I also picked up this nice plaid shirt at a thrift shop.

So I used my pinking shears to cut around the design.

And pinned it to the back of the plaid shirt.

I used a straight stitch and black thread to top stitch it down, about a half inch from the edge. I went around it twice. When the shirt is washed, the edges of the appliqué will curl slightly, but it won’t fray.

This was on the back of the tank. I might cut out the small Harley logo and stitch it on the front of the plaid shirt.

Then again, I might use this chunk to make a shirt for Willy.

I think he wants something more manly. 🤣

Obviously, this idea will work for pretty much any shirt with a cool logo. Let me know if you try it!

Have a great day!

The pocket logo would look AMAZING on Willy’s chest! I love the idea.

  2. Great use of the shirt. My husband used to call some of the things I picked up fabric-in-the-shape-of. Meaning, it might look like a shirt, but it was really raw material for inspiration.
