I picked up a new toy. It looks like a toy, doesn’t it? I bought that beautiful new yarn and quickly remembered why I don’t knit much anymore. My hands don’t like it.
I’ve walked by a gazillion knitting machines at sales over the years. They are very intimidating. But this was a cheap option (Facebook Marketplace) to try it out.

I thought the grands could use it to make hats. Casting on was easy. Cranking it was easy.

Oops! Something went wrong!

I didn’t do a proper cast off since I knew this would get unraveled anyway. This shows about 30 rows of knitting and took a matter of minutes.

I like the way the knitting feels. It is very even, though a bit looser than when I knit by hand. I can see the boys having a lot of fun with this.
It is NOT a replacement for a big knitting machine. But might be a good intro to it. I’d really love a circular sock knitting machine someday, but it isn’t in the budget. I found a used flat bed knitting machine on FB Marketplace, but it’s still $200. A lot for me to spend when I have no idea what I’m doing.
I still think I’ll have fun playing with this.
Have a great day!

There are lots of tutorials for that type of knitting machine on YouTube. I used to have a smaller one and would suggest casting on with waste yarn for an inch then switch to your good yarn. Cast off with waste yarn too. I used it to make toys and sock tubes for dyeing yarn.
that is so BIG! I remember the little spool knitters, but have never seen one of these.
I never knew they made such a thing! Kinda Cool!
