It has been a long week and I was in need of some play time. I came across this wallpaper image from Manolo Walls earlier this week. I fell in love with it! I’m not a wallpaper person, but I could make an exception for this.
I decided to have a go at a little experiment using some cheap scrap fabric. I drew a 3 by 6 inch grid and roughed in some lines so I could remind myself of the direction I wanted to take the quilting.

Then I got out a ruler and went to work at the long arm.

Yes, I used black thread in the top. I was struggling with tension and ended up putting a light colored thread in the bobbin. Believe it or not, darker threads can cause tension issues. Since I was just p,aging, I decided I didn’t care about mismatched threads.

You can see that I wasn’t trying to hit the lines, they were just sketched in guides. I’m not the best at rulerwork, I get too impatient!

Here is the back side.

And this is the front after washing. I kinda like it and wish I had used better fabric.

Now, I’m trying to decide if I should finish it as is or play some more. And do I have the attention span to try this again? Hmmmm…..
Have a great day!

What fun you had playing there! Great idea for quilting.
I really love this. The wallpaper image is something I’d pin for inspiration. Love both the front an back of your work.
I think it’s fun to run with an idea now and then. I do understand the assessment of whether you want to do it again though, since I’ve had those. Sometimes it’s the thrill of the first run at it, and then the thrill is gone. Will be waiting to see if you have another go at it!
