Little Shoo Fly Blocks

Thank you for all the sweet comments on my little Jeep quilt! It was the last thing I finished before my surgery. I’m not back to that level yet. I wish I was!

I did finish piecing the six blocks I had cut out. It is slow going working with one hand. Pressing is the hardest part.

Now I need to decide how to set them. Maybe on point?

Or maybe with alternate blocks?

Or maybe I should cut pieces for a few more blocks. I’m so thankful for my Accuquilt die cutter. Using scissors or a rotary cutter is not possible for me at this point, but I can accurately cut pieces with my die cutter, cranking with my left hand. Hooray for that!

From now until July 25th, you can use the promo code EASYCUT for 40% off studio dies and die bundles. Clicking here will net you free shipping on purchases over $25.

Have a great day!

These are so cute! I can imagine you’re going a little stir crazy while you’re healing and can’t quilt. Hang in there and be patient. Follow doctor’s orders so that you heal completely and don’t set yourself back. It’s worth the wait. I had rotator cuff surgery and bicep tendonesis 4 year ago. I followed orders and did the physical therapy as directed and was back to sewing after a few months. It seemed like forever, but I read a lot of good books right after surgery and did other things while on the mend. The wait and frustration was worth it, as I’m definitely better. Best wishes for quick healing.

I have wanted to get a “‘GO” cutter for some time but when I went to look at them the store personnel was not helpful. Any information you can share would be great. Can you get dies for cutting small pieces? Thanks Katy. Also, I like your blocks set on point.

  3. I’m a sucker for blocks on point! Good for you, keeping on quilting while your hand heals. This will be a cute little quilt!

    I vote for on point.

I like the blocks on point, Katy. You are the 2nd person I know THIS WEEK that has lost the use of her right hand!
