My local quilt guild was given thousands of ties. They put them all on a table and said, help yourself! This is a guild challenge project to make something from these.

I decided they would all get thrown in the wash and if any didn’t survive, I didn’t want them in my project anyway.

I threw in some color catchers and this is how they turned out! Yikes!

I washed hem a second time and threw a few out. I took them apart while watching a movie. Now they are pressed and ready for fusible interfacing.

Come back tomorrow for the next chapter in this story! Have a great day!

I’m going to watch you closely on this one. Then maybe I’ll feel brave enough to open that box of ties in my sewing room!
I’m curious to see what you do with these! I’ve been given some as well and haven’t been able to come up with any ideas at all!
My Mom and I made cathedral window with my Dad’s leftover ties after he passed…they memory pillows and table runners…looking forward to seeing what you do with them. One of our sewing circle friends made dresden plates (just removing the linings first) they came out beautifully…
hugs, Julierose
My daughter recently made valance for her sons’ bedroom by simply tying about 30 ties over a simple curtain rod!
Looks like an exciting project!
I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out too. I have a bunch of ties as well. Hadn’t occurred to me to just wash them and see how they do in the wash, so I’ve learned something already! How many didn’t make it?
I can’t wait to see what you come up with because I have close to 100 ties! People just give them to me! Can a girl say no?! Of course not! Please give me some fresh ideas!
