I visited Daughter #3 last week. On the way home, I stopped at several antique malls. In the last one, I found this beauty needing rescue for a mere $35.
She isn’t perfect. She came with some yellow stains. Something must have happened when it was folded as most were symmetrical.

This one looked like a rusty stain.

I soaked it in my bath tub with a bit of Dawn dish soap and a product called Restoration by Engleside Products (available on Amazon). The fabric and stitching seemed very strong, so after a good tub rinse, I ran it through a gentle cycle in my washer and dryer. It looks so much brighter and the stains are mostly gone.
This is the rust stain now.

And this was the worst yellow stain.

I love this quilt! The colors, the four block setting, the simple appliqué, the scalloped edge. Beautiful!
Have a wonderful day!

For an antique applique quilt, the pattern is very minimalist, even by today’s standard. Was it a trend at some point? It is gorgeous and for $35, it’s a steal. Enjoy! ;^)
What a lovely find! And what an inspiration for ideas!
Score!! What a great buy! Totally worth it in spite of the stains, especially since you were able to minimize those too.
wow I love it too!
A bargain and a save! Nicely done!
Beautiful Katy! What a find!!
Heaven only knows how long this beautiful quilt has languished – unused and forgotten – because of the stain. It was meant to fall into your capable hands, Katy. Great job!
You were so lucky to find this gorgeous quilt, and at such a good price too! It looks beautiful on your bed.
That is just wonderful! Went to a good home for sure!
Absolutely beautiful!! What a great treasure for you to find. It has a good home now. Hugs,
What a alovely quilt. Most people would pass this up as being too stained. Thanks for sharing your method for cleaning so we can rescue more orphaned quilts.
What an awesome find and rescue!
Such a lovely quilt, and the bit of restoration you did was well worth it. The original quilter would be happy to know this beauty is being appreciated!
Just think how happy the original maker would be to know that this quilt was being loved so much!
Exciting-what an amazing find!!! It’s terrific~
