WIP Wednesday

I mentioned yesterday that I was starting something new. Daughter #1 saw the IKEA Postcard Quilt by Jeliquilts on Instagram and loved it. You can see her blog post here. So I went on a bit of a search for the appropriate fabrics to make something similar for her. It won’t be the same. I love her quilt but this will be smaller and I am not using the same fabrics or arrangement. She does offer the free pattern on Craftsy here.

These were cut from this layer cake that I got from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

i used this die to cut my 3″ finished triangles.

And then the fun began.

This is definitely not a final arrangement, just a start to get them up on the wall. I am cutting a few solid scraps to add in here and there as well.

So that is my new WIP. Linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday and Sew Fresh Quilts for Let’s Bee Sewcial.

Brilliant use of a layer cake. The colours are wonderful! Maybe it’s one of those quilts that can be truly random – no need to spend ages moving pieces around to make it look random (in a balanced sort of way!).

Love the layout and the bright colours, it’s going to be a really fun quilt! Ikea is surprisingly good for quilt inspiration – I have a design brewing that’s based on a small picture of lots of multicoloured X’s that I saw last time I was there.

It’s gonna be beautiful! So bright and cheerful.

I like all the color! It’s always hard to decide on a finished arrangement when there’s so many different fabrics. Good luck!
