I have had these lovely fabrics hanging around for a while now and this morning, inspiration hit!

I love precuts but hate the pinked edges so I usually cut them down. I’m okay with this bit of waste. This is what I have left after cutting charm squares into 3″ finished HSTs.

The bits on the left get pitched. The bits on the right are for tiny paper pieced log cabin blocks. Before I knew it, I had everything cut and ready to piece!

And I even got a couple blocks pieced before work.

And I played around with some ideas for setting them.
So apparently, running out of batting is inspirational!
Happily, I came home to this:
Woo hoo! Thank you, Jesus!

Ooops, the above is not really my blog address. I’m trying to figure out how to comment on a WordPress blog with my sweetwoodruffs address. Hmmmmmm…
IT’s so nice to visit the blog of a fellow civil war fabric lover. I don’t see much of that around blogging. Love your fabrics. And I have to get me an accuquilt. I can’t put it off any longer. I’m excited to see how this comes along.
Cute blocks! They’ll look great all together. and, hooray for your batting arrival!
Thanks so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!

I couldn’t agree more about those blasted pinked edges on pre-cuts. A couple of bad experiences with piecing have turned me off them altogether which is a shame because I DO SO love working with the coordinated colors and designs from any given designer. I’ve learned to do as you’ve done and re-purpose them. I know you’ll whip through this one in no time at all. Can’t wait to see the finished quilt.
Yippee, Batting!! I’m with you those pinked edges I just never know if I should go to the edge have a little part sticking out….LOL I got parts for blocks cut out yesterday, but my blocks are 16.5 inches with only 3 pieces š I feel like an underachiever. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
I hate pinked edges too!! This is going to be a beautiful quilt!
Gorgeous fabrics!! I can’t wait to see how your new quilt comes together.
