Design Wall Monday

I am back to thinking about the album blocks. This is how I wanted to set them:

That was before I realized that I do not have enough of the paisley for sashing. Now I am thinking of going with this:

I need to make a decision soon.

I also started working on this UFO. It is on my list for the Q2 FAL 2014.20140427-233414.jpg
I made this several years ago but it never got finished because it didn’t lay flat. The center is a mountain peak! I decided today to put two circles of poly batting in the center to take up some fullness. Then I loaded it in the frame with a layer of Warm and Natural. My goal is just to get it flat and to keep the labyrinth round. I like the idea I had but my execution of the raw edge reverse appliqué was not good.

The first step was to outline the black. Then I used a “scribbling” motion to quilt down and secure the black areas of the labyrinth. This will never be perfect but it will get finished!

  1. I have been envisioning a quilt almost exactly like your labyrinth quilt for some time. (The color-under-black, the labyrinth design). Nothing new under the sun…or sewing machine, eh?

I hope you get this finished! Then I won’t have to do one to see what it looks like! 😉

  2. fantastic!, I am looking forward to your finish!! How did having multiple layers quilt up?

Fun quilts. Your Labyrinth quilt is stunning. Good luck with the quilting.

  4. Stopping by from Anything Goes Monday , Wow factor

I like the lighter sashing because it makes the blocks seem to float!!

  6. Ramona says:

I think the lighter sashing really makes the block stand out more… I notice the fabric more. Your labyrinth is beautiful. Great idea about adding more batting to the middle. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

  7. Julie in GA says:

Your labyrinth piece is fabulous! It definitely deserves to be finished.

  8. I really like the lighter sashing with the paisley corner square. Your labyrinth looks pretty awesome from here!

  9. Lois says:

Oh, drats! I *loved* the paisley. Just my two cents but after ALL the work you’ve put into piecing the album blocks, you should be happy with the sashing. I know it will be wonderful whatever you decide upon.
