My readers are the best! I appreciate that you stop by to visit and comment on my projects. One of my readers, Jan, emailed me a few months back to share with me a great treasure she found at a garage sale. Today this treasure wound up in my mailbox!

This “quilt” (it doesn’t have batting), appears to be from the 30s. The fabrics in it are just charming!

It has rick rack across the top edge.

The backing appears to be flour sacks.

I wish I knew the story behind this piece. I wonder if it was cut down from a larger top. There are bits of cotton batting in the corners but no evidence that it was ever quilted or tied. I love the blocks!
I am not sure what I will do with this piece but part of me really wants to quilt it properly. I love it as it is and will enjoy spending some time studying it first.
Thanks again, Jan for this most lovely and generous gift!

This is so precious and beautiful! You really do have to wonder about the story behind it and look at the beautiful fabrics! Thanks for sharing.

It is indeed a treasure! I love those 30s fabrics, they are so cute! I found you through Freemotion by the River. Greetings. Christine
oh it is charming. I wonder if it was a kit quilt, which were big in the 20’s. The fabrics look so like my reproductions. BTW, it’s not Florida….

Very pretty. Might have been a crib sheet?
That is just lovely!
Beautiful little quilt. It could have been a “summer quilt”. They were put together without batting, just a backing, but they were usually quilted lightly. The fabrics are great!
This is just precious! π A true treasure! π
What a treasure! Love those baskets. I can’t wait to see what you decide to do with this one.
Most definitely 1930s fabrics. Muslin looks soft and cuddly. Love the baskets. A treasure.
