I worked on several different projects yesterday. First my friend Sarah came to work on her quilt.,it is looking fabulous! I will take a picture next time. While she worked on her quilt, I sewed shirting scraps together.

I am not sure yet what this will become but it is fun to play with the scraps.
I also made some burp cloths for my two grandsons.
I found a pattern online for these and modified the shape to my liking. I cut the pattern out of freezer paper and ironed it onto the flannel. Then I stitched around just beyond the edge of the pattern.
you can see the stitching line after I removed the patter on this one:

Next I cut the burp cloth out with pinking shears about a quarter inch beyond the seam and turned it right side out. I finished them off by topstitiching close to the edge.
Hubby worked late so I pulled out some HST scraps and played with those a bit.
More on that project tomorrow.
And here is a little reminder for you (if you are squeamish, look away now!). Every now and again, clean and oil your machine.
Have a great day!

The strip quilt is great! Now, that ball of lint un DID me!! I brush away all lint every time I change the bobbin. Every time. I clean, oil, run the machine, then wipe with a Q-tip and get more dirt out.
If I didn’t my machine would clack.

Love your scrap strips, cannot wait to see what you do with them!! I clean my machine after every project – and it looks kinda just like that!! Might have to start doing it more. . . .
Thanks for the reminder to periodically clean our machine! I haven’t spent much time with my machine since I had her tuned up last fall (hand quilting the never ending Storm at Sea), but I’ve got several quilts that I’m going to start piecing over the next month or two, so she’ll need to be cleaned up soon! 😉 I can’t wait to see what you do with those scrappy HSTs … how big are they?
