Finally got the challenge quilt started. Not finished, just started.

See that pink, I mean red, border? It takes 10 minutes to mark, 10 minutes to quilt, and a couple hours to unquilt.

Grrrr……

This has truly been a challenging quilt. I could not decide how to quilt this thing. Finally decided on an easy swirl and feather free hand treatment for the border.

Not in love with it. Now I need to decide what to do on the diamonds. Thinking about a quick free hand loopy fill. I just want it done.

I think I started thinking about this hanging amongst masterpieces at a show and got all intimidated.

Yeah, after I said just yesterday that I wasn’t in it for the competition. I’m still not but neither do I want this one to look like the sad little orphan quilt because of the quilting. And I wanted to come up with something clever.

It isn’t happening.

I have to remember, it isn’t about the show, it is about the combat veteran that will receive it.

Back to work. Linking up with Connie at Free Motion by the River.

Have a great day!

I have seen a very similar fireworks print at Joann’s all the time..it has sparkles to it and same design as yours. It is so pretty and unique, but I can never think of how to use it! As a large border is great! I have to start thinking “BORDERS TOO” when I am looking at fabric! Thanks for the inspiration! I found you on Free Motion Linky today!

Katy – Love it, I haven’t seen a bad quilt posted by you yet. Your quilting & quilts are beautiful. I just hope someday, mine will look as good. I look forward everyday to your posts and to whatever new project your working on. You motivate me to keep going and not to give up. When I look at your quilting it convinces me that I too can do that.
