Like most quilters, I have scraps. I cannot tell you I have a great solution for dealing with them. I do keep my Quilt of Valor scraps separate from the rest in baskets like this:
For the last few months, I stop every so often and cut them into units I think would be useful and store them in containers like these:

I also toss in any leftover pieces and parts from QOV blocks.
I found out this week that our local VA hospital is in need of wheelchair quilts. It seemed a perfect time to start using some of these bits! I had lots of these red parallelograms that I had cut wrong for a quilt last summer and found enough whites and blues in the box to make these units.

Which will become these blocks:

It will only take 9 to make a wheelchair quilt. I hope to have it finished by next Wednesday to drop off at our local guild meeting.
Happy Saturday!

I keep meaning to get organized like that!
What a great idea! See, you were meant to find out about the need for wheelchair quilts. What is the recommended size for such a quilt?
Thanks, Sue. I find if I leave this go too long, it is too daunting a task and I just want to throw it all into the bin! Yesterday when I sat down to sew, it was like bonus round yatzhee because everything was there and I didn’t have to cut anything :).
Take care, Katy

Great idea for the cutting right after. I always find the things that clutter my space are from previous projects because I knew I could do something with them. Cutting them into the pieces I use a lot is brilliant. Now just have to do it! Thanks for sharing 🙂
is there a specific size or shape for wheel chair quilts or a pattern
