Design Wall Monday

Did you guess what I was making with the diamonds and squares yesterday?

If you guessed another Pandora’s Box, you would be correct! I plan to piece this quilt in 16 patch “blocks.”

Here is my sewing lap table:

Remember when showed this little quilt that I made for my SQT swap partner?

I started thinking then that I would like to make these in a bigger size. In the swap quilt, the edges measure one much finished. In my new project, each side finishes at 2 1/2″. Each 16 patch is approximately 9″ finished. This is what the back looks like after pressing.

The QOV presentation that I was supposed to do today was postponed due to an ice storm in our area. That meant extra duties at church filling in for those that couldn’t make it also. The rest of the day was spent with family and the only sewing time I got in was while watching Elf tonight.

Here are some pictures from our yard.

It sure was pretty but many in our area are without power. I am thankful we are safe and warm and am praying for those in need today.

I am linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times for DWM. Check out what others are up to.

  1. I love how you’re sharing a lot of using your Accuquilt … your encouragement the other day and now all this info on your blog was just what I needed! 😉

We had a huge ice storm 7 years ago and we were without power for 7 days! The ice was beautiful, but my heart hurts for those who lose their power because of ice storms.

  2. Diamond shapes always make for interesting quilts. The accuquilt pieces look perfect. Too late for me to ask Santa foe one of those machines.

I love that block! So glad you and your family are safe and warm. Have a blessed Christmas.

  4. Edwina Finet says:

Thanks for showing us the blocks and the pressing technique. Our son and family live in E. Lansing and lost power. I’m not sure of their status today, but praying for all who have these problems.

  5. Lu Ann says:

How big are your pieces? Are you english paper piecing them or hand piecing? I would love to make one of these. I saw the picture posted by your swappee and wondered how you made it. I love it!

What a sweet block. Looks like you got a bit of time in to sew yesterday. It looks great!

  7. Sandi says:

I’m glad you all are ok, I hope power comes back soon for others in your area. I like the new block you are doing.
