Slow Stitching Sunday

Another blog I really enjoy is Kathy’s Quilts. Every week she hosts a link up called Slow Stitching Sunday. I so enjoy seeing what everyone is working on and it encourages me to slow down and do the same. Knowing this week would be crazy (understatement of the year!), I spent a little time preparing some bits for hand piecing.

It didn’t take long to cut these from scraps using these dies:

See my new little stitching kit from my SQT Swap partner? Can’t wait to use it!
My basket is packed and I am ready to stitch! You might have already guessed what these will become. If not, I will show you my progress tomorrow.

I am really looking forward to working on these but first is church and then I have a special delivery to make.

Today is the day these two QOVs will be presented to two brothers who both served in the Iraqi Freedom Campaign.

Check out Kathy’s blog to see what others are slow stitching today.

  1. I love your little basket with a hand piecing project to pick up and take wherever you go!
Thanks for linking up to Slow Stitching!

  2. I love your little sewing basket!

I just discovered your blog this morning and was thrilled to see that you use an Accuquilt cutter … and then an hour or two later I see an email from you via the Accuquilt Yahoogroups! What a small world. I’ve got an Accuquilt Go under the tree (my Christmas gift from DH) … as much as I’m looking forward to being able to get my fabric cut quickly and accurately, I admit I’m a little apprehensive about mastering use of my cutter. I’m in the middle of 3 projects right now (which is 2 more than the most I’ve ever had going at one time … yes, I was always a one-at-a-time kind of quilter!), but I think I’ll try to find something (anything) to cut, after the first of the year, to see if I can’t figure out how to cut using my cutter. 😉

I am so wondering what they will become! I hope to do more hand piecing in 2014 and need to really start prepping some things to do.

  4. No, I can’t guess your project! And, I hope the boys enjoy the QOV quilts.

  5. Love your stitching kit and basket! Your pieces are very pretty!

How wonderful that you get to deliver your QOV quilts. I am making one I hope to gift it in June. I have considered getting a die cutter, just haven’t taken the plunge, maybe in 2014. Your diamonds and squares look wonderful and it sure would be nice to have precise pieces for hand piecing, something I want to do more of in the future.
