Well, I decided to trim the borders rather than rip. I would have preferred a bit more separation but I am very happy with the way my triangle pattern worked out at the corners.

One if the reasons I didn’t follow Lori’s plan exactly is that I am always trying to use up leftover bits and/or use dies that I have for my studio cutter. I didn’t have HSTs that measured 1 1/4″ finished, so mine are 1 1/2″ finished. I am never a slave to a pattern, I use what works for me. Now I still have all these left:

I cut some bits for some scrappy QOV blocks. When I sat down to sew, I realized I had more cutting to do!
I have one more major WIP to share with all of you but it must remain a secret for just a little while longer. Keeping a secret is so hard….
I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced for Work in Progress Wednesday.

This block is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
Love it!!
So, so pretty. You are clever to use up your pieces. Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering my giveaway. I hope someone who loves civil war fabric wins. 🙂
I love that you made it work. Your block is so pretty! Hugs, S
I would have trimmed the border rather than do all that ripping too, Katy. I (still) love the look of the finished block. I’m not a slave to patterns either. 🙂
I really look forward to your emails each morning as I sit down with my coffee. Have a great day.
