Uglies

Here is my quilted, bound, and washed quilt for the March SmallTalkQuilt challenge. We were supposed to use ugly fabrics but I think I love most of the scraps I used. Or maybe the uglies just look better set amongst the pretty bits.

I suppose it is the little ugly bits that make the rest look better. I like this. I believe God uses every scrap to make our lives into something beautiful. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” If things are rough and not looking good, hang on, take a step back, at some point you can look at that ugly patch surrounded by the pretties and it will all make sense.
And in other scrappy news, here is another little project that could be a block a day for March:

This little log cabin block will be 4″ finished. It is paper pieced and each block takes a while to make. We’ll see how big this gets.
Until next time…

  1. Katy, I love your HST, especially with the two different fabrics in the borders! So cute. I’ve been working on a log cabin quilt – off and on – for about a year. I didn’t use paper piecing, so it’s not as accurate as yours, but I like the way it’s turning out. I’m inspired to get back to it after seeing yours.
